Learn more about Craig...

1973 Started at Manhattan Cyclery in Manhattan Beach 1975 Started Dan’s Bicycle Shop on 41st Ave (First day in town!) 1980 Opened “The Bicycle Inn” in Aptos with partner Jeff Hoover 1987 Started “Craig’s Bicycle Service” out of my residence in order to raise my two children without daycare 1999 Began working at Spokesman Bicycles and still here! I started serious cycling in 1973 while still in Southern California. It was a secondary sport to surfing (and volleyball) which was my main reason for moving to Santa Cruz. It didn’t take long to find the many great rides and was fortunate to get in on the birth of mountain biking. I am also proud of the fact that I have never driven to work and bought my first car at the age of 40. I’ve been a Bike to Work volunteer for 14 years. Inspirations: Shaft and Jim Fox

Harry Gurnee- Service Manager

Learn more about Harry...

1979 first bike- Raleigh Gran Sport, with this bike I started cycling seriously. 1983 First bike shop job- Mikes Bikes Watsonville CA. (long out of business). 1984 Took first pay cut and started working at the Bicycle Inn in Aptos CA. 1987 Took 2nd pay cut and became a partner in The Bicycle Inn Aptos CA. 1997 Accepted job and pay increase as Service Manager here at Spokesman Bicycles 2000 Moved up to cardboard manager (no change in compensation package). 2014 Still here at Spokesman and loving it!! My partnership with cycling began as a child but, really blossomed in 1979 when I started exploring my extended backyard. In 1983 I was first introduced to the infant sport of mountain biking. Through cycling I have been introduced to a wonderful community and culture I wouldn’t have been exposed to. although I’ve had my share of accidents and injuries (he’s had more than his share) I’m thankful of my cycling experience and am looking forward to the next turn in the road. I tend toward working on road bikes with Campagnolo equipped bikes being a specialty. I enjoy working at Bike to work day and meeting new cyclists. I get most of my weekly miles riding to work but, still manage to get in a few challenging and iconic rides each season. I’m very appreciative of the many clients who still call upon me for help. As long as my hands allow, I’ll be here for them. I have recently begun working on bikes for the children of customers who were children when I first started working on their bikes, I’m not old!
